Valeran, Lord of Austhaven

Skuldakn — Tue, 02 Aug 2016 22:57:51 GMT

Skuldakn:

Name: Valeran of Austhaven

Age: 27

Eyes: Ice blue

Hair: Black hair kept back in a Widow's Peak style, close cropped beard

Complexion: Fair

Height: 6'1

Weight: 187 lbs

Clothing: Lord Valeran, like his father and brother, is more often seen wearing the distinctive blood coloured armour of the Hellfire, the army of Austhaven. However, when circumstance dictates, Valeran tends to lean towards loose pants and longcoats when forced out of his armour.

History: Lord Valeran inherited Austhaven when he was only a child due to his father dying in battle against marauding slavers and his mother dying years earlier to plague. As such, Valeran grew up with no authority but his own. This has bled into his adult life when he was selected to be the Imperial Marshal and command the defence of the Empire. Lord Valeran preferred to attack across the Badlands instead of waiting for barbarians to arrive. During his childhood in Austhaven, Valeran and his sister Marian were both stunned to discover that their father had kept a secret mistress outside the fortress, and they had a bastard brother. Valeran immediately called for his guard to bring him the boy. They did so, most in the court expecting Valeran to execute the bastard as a threat to his rule. However, the boy, only two years younger than Valeran himself, was not so ambitious. He simply wanted to serve. Valeran was so taken with his new brother that he took him in to his home and raised him up. This continued into his adulthood as well, as the bastard now serves as Valeran's right hand. After serving as the Emperor's military commander for so many years, Valeran has decided to attend the voting. This is his right as an Elector-Prince, but almost no Easterling has ever attended the Meet before. Perhaps Valeran wants to push his own claim, or throw the support of the strongest military leader of Vrioyavan behind one of the other candidates.

Lady Katryna d'Astarae

Skuldakn — Tue, 02 Aug 2016 22:27:31 GMT

Skuldakn:

Name: Katryna d'Astarae née de Saintraille

Age: 46

Eyes: Yellow

Hair: long, cascading locks of black hair

Complexion: Fair

Height: 5'6

Weight: 113 lbs

Clothing: Lady Katryna is very fond of long, low-cut dresses. Most often she will wear deep blue, but since the death of her husband she has taken to wearing black

History: Lady Katryna is the first and only child of the Duke of Saintraille, Shorne de Saintraille. As the heir to his duchy, Duke Shorne could not allow his daughter to marry any lord's son. Instead, on Katryna's sixteenth birthday, Duke Shorne married his daughter to the Emperor of Vrioyavan, Helmut d'Astarae the Third. With this marriage, Shorne was able to tie his family closely into Imperial politics. Katryna herself fell in love with Helmut and was married happily. They ruled together for almost forty years together, having two sons and a daughter. The oldest son, Helmut the Fourth, is the heir to Aegremonth and, if his mother has her way, the Empire. In turn, the second son Lucan is heir to Saintraille. Upon Duke Shorne's death, Lucan will take the name de Saintraille and become the Duke. Her daughter Mirabelle is a rambunctious and free-willed girl, who's only wish is to meet a knight who will take her on an adventure. Katryna herself planned to be Empress until her death. Unfortunately, all those plans were ruined by the Emperor's untimely death while hunting. Now, the Council of Regents have called all the Elector-Princes to Aegremonth to vote for the new Emperor. Will Katryna be willing to do whatever it takes to see her son on the throne?

Hail to the Emperor

Skuldakn — Tue, 02 Aug 2016 22:10:00 GMT

Welcome to 'Hail to the Emperor'! This is a story about intrigue, politics and war! You, the wonderful reader, will take control of one of five main characters. Simply select one below and you will be taken to their Bio page. Then, simple choose to start the story or go back to select a different character. I will try to update and expand this story as much as possible, and I hope you enjoy.

Prepare to enter the world of Vrioyavan, the mighty Empire of the West! Millennia ago, the Lord of Aegremonth, Lucan d'Astarae, ambitiously conquered the entire western known world. He granted land to his followers, creating the first of the Elector-Princes. He divided the Empire into five parts, based on which people inhabited where. The Northern Mountains, inhabited by the Mid Dmang. These people are slim and squat, in order to more easily navigate their treacherous home. The Western Islands, inhabited by the Oran. Broad and fair-skinned, the Oran mastered the art of boatbuilding and the western Elector-Princes handle nearly every aspect of the Empire. The Heartlands, the center of the Empire, are inhabited by the original peoples of Emperor d'Astarae's army. They are the keystone of the Empire, and nearly every Emperor elected has been from the Heartlands. The Southern Fields are home to the wealthiest and most beautiful people in the Empire, the Ducal. The Ducal named themselves after their leaders, the Dukes that swore fealty to Lucan d'Astarae millennia ago. Finally, we come to the Eastern Badlands. Once inhabited by barbarian nomads, the clans swore fealty to d'Astarae and became his buffer from threats to the east. Since the Empire's creation, the Easterlings have fended off slavers, monsters, magicians and the Blackguard, the elite forces of a distant and mystical kingdom.

Now brave reader, you must choose your path. The fate of the Empire is in your hands.
