Choose Your Own Adventure is a wiki that contains stories where the reader assumes the role of the main character. In each page you choose how the story should progress. If you don't see an option that you would like to pursue, click the edit tab on the top of the page and add a new path to the page. Then you get to write in your own adventure for the character.

Please note that this site is specifically for Choose Your Own Adventure stories. If you choose to post stories that have no choices, your story will be deleted as such stories are not appropriate for this site.

“Help! HELP! That boy has stolen my purse!” You scream. Then, around the corner runs the handsome Captain Christopher Highmore of the Royal Navy. “He went that way!” You shout, pointing after the boy. Captain Highmore vanishes into the gloom of the alley, only to reemerge with your purse.

“I didn’t catch the thief, but he dropped this while he was running,” Captain Highmore explains as he hands you back your purse.

You thank Captain Highmore and he escorts you to your carriage. “It would be best for you to go straight home Miss Beech,” he says as he hands you in. “The Pirate Captain James Whitlock was spotted in town today.”

“Pirates! How exciting,” you say.

“We don’t know why he’s in town, but usually pirates only come to the city when they have a score to settle. But fear not, the Royal Navy will catch him.” Captain Highmore says as he shuts the door. However, once you’re inside, you realize that it’s not your carriage at all! It starts to roll down the street, and in the darkness inside the carriage, you can just make out a figure holding a gun at you!

“Who are you? Where are you taking me?”

“That’s none of your concern. We’re just taking what’s ours,” the man answers.

“But why are you taking me?”

“Because your father owes Captain Whitlock.”

You quickly try to think of a suitable place to hide all of the important papers and settle on hiding them behind the framed picture on the wall. It wasn’t the best hiding place, but it would do in a pinch. And you didn’t hide them a moment too soon, for just then, Captain Whitlock burst into the study.

“Now, how am I going to find my treasure Miss Beech?” he asks you.

“My father wrote down where he hid it,” you begin.

“Then tell me where it is!” Captain Whitlock demands.

“I can’t tell you, I don’t understand it myself. But I will let you look at my father’s papers when you take me back to land.”

“Boys! Search the study. She’s hidden the treasure map in here,” he says, calling in his men. They tear the study apart, but thankfully don’t look behind the picture. “You’re cleverer than I gave you credit for Miss Beech,” Captain Whitlock says once the search is over. “We’ll take you to land, and then you’ll give me the map?” You nod in agreement.

A few days later, you look out the window in the morning and you can see land! You don’t recognize it, but you must be close to the city. Captain Whitlock barges in and demands to know where the map is. You give it to him, and you are finally allowed on deck. Once there, you realize that you aren’t close to the city at all! Why, you’re at the Pirate port Tortuga! Captain Whitlock forces you off ''The Rising Sun'' and into the port.

“Well, look what we have here. A stowaway boys!” Captain Whitlock says as he looks at you.

“I’m no stowaway!” You say. “This is my father’s boat. And as such, I demand that you name me First Mate and give me the largest quarters.”

“And why would I do a thing like that?” Captain Whitlock asks as his men laugh.

“Because I know how to find the treasure!” You say.

This is, of course, completely untrue. But you had to think on your feet! Pirates are always searching for treasure…or so you imagine. Captain Whitlock looks at you thoughtfully.

“How do you know where the treasure is?” he demands.

“Because,” You lie wildly, “my father told me that the secret to the treasure is in his study.”

“Alright Miss Beech… I won’t kill you just yet. And as long as you lead me to that treasure, you’ll stay alive.”

You kneel down next to Captain Highmore and try to stop the bleeding from the gunshot wound. As you are ripping up your coat to make a bandage, you realize that the pirates are casting off and heading out to sea. Captain Whitlock is standing over you.

“Miss Beech is it? We didn’t even have to kidnap you. Lock her in the study, and throw her friend overboard.”

“No!” you cry. “Please don’t! Just let me tend to him and I won’t make a fuss, I promise.”

“He’ll probably just bleed out anyways,” Captain Whitlock says dismissively. “Boys, throw them both in the study!”

Later, under your gentle care, Captain Highmore begins to come to. “Oh Captain, thank goodness you’re all right!” you exclaim. “We need to get out of here.”

“And by now, the Royal Navy should be close behind. We only need to slow ''The Rising Sun'' down enough for them to catch up,” he says once you’ve explained what happened.

Later in the evening, you escape through the window, and, even though it’s dark, you manage to climb onto the ships’ deck. Then, you grab one of the lamps on the deck and throw it at the sails, catching them on fire! You’ve effectively stopped The Rising Sun and made it easy for the Royal Navy to find you! Then, you climb back into the study, and no one realizes you were behind all the chaos on deck.

Almost minutes later, you can see ''HMS Victory'' approaching through the window.

“Oh Captain Highmore, we’re saved!” You exclaim. “The pirates can’t go anywhere and the Royal Navy is so close!”

The sailors of the Royal Navy board the boat and fight the pirates, then, the fighting suddenly stops. You hear someone coming toward the study. The door opens and it’s an officer of the Royal Navy!

“Now I just need to get you home safe before anything else happens,” Captain Highmore says. You laugh and the Royal Navy takes you, Captain Highmore, and ''The Rising Sun'' back to the city.

And thus, your adventure ended, and you no longer wanted any dealings with pirates! As for dashing Captains in the Royal Navy… well, that’s a different story.

The end.

“Oh Captain Highmore, thank goodness you’re alright! And thank you so much for saving me!” you exclaim.
“Now I just need to get you home safe before anything else happens,” Captain Highmore says. He tehn escorts you back to your father’s house.

And thus, your adventure ended, and you no longer wanted any dealings with pirates! As for handsome Captains in the Royal Navy… well, that’s a different story.

Why, it might be that pirate who almost kidnapped you! You run over to Captain Highmore just as he finishes inspecting the carriage. “There’s nothing here,” he tells you.

“But there is someone up there,” you whisper, pointing to ''The Rising Sun''.

“I should take you home before this gets too dangerous,” he says. “I will alert the Commodore and someone else will take care of this.”

The day after ''The Rising Sun'' has left Tortuga, you are sitting by the docks, wondering what you will do if the Royal Navy never comes. However, it seems that you won’t have to worry about that anymore, for you can see ''HMS Victory'' on the horizon! The ship docks, and by the time the handsome Captain Christopher Highmore of the Royal Navy reaches you on the pier, all of Tortuga’s unsavory characters have vanished.

“Captain Highmore!” you exclaim, “I can’t believe you found me!”

“Now I just need to get you home safe before anything else happens,” Captain Highmore says as he escorts you onto the ''HMS Victory''.

“Aren’t you going to go after the pirates and ''The Rising Sun''?” You ask. “They only left here a day ago.”

“Then we can still chase them down. Cast off men!”

''HMS Victory'' pursues your father’s stolen ship and finally catches up. After a magnificent battle, ''The Rising Sun'' is no longer in the hands of pirates! You sail back to the city on ''HMS Victory'' with ''The Rising Sun'' following close behind.

And thus, your adventure ended, and you no longer wanted any dealings with pirates! As for dashing Captains in the Royal Navy… well, that’s a different story.

Looking for a crew in Tortuga, the first thing you do is go into the closest tavern, The Hiccupping Turtle. There, you learn that Captain Whitlock has quite a few enemies who would be more than willing to join forces with you to take him down. Then, when you tell them you have a map that would lead to his treasure, they are more than happy to follow the orders of a landlubber.

That evening, you and your new crew board The Rising Sun and slit the throats of all the pirates who won’t side with you. The next day at dawn, you set out on the high seas with a map, hoping to find treasure and adventure no matter which way the wind blows you.

What you don’t realize is that the entire Royal Navy is out looking for you and The Rising Sun. A few more days pass by, and Captain Whitlock finally brings the ship to port at Tortuga. The pirates, drunk by the time they return to the ship, don’t notice you slip off The Rising Sun and disappear into the port.

Stories of less than ten pages that haven't been worked on by anyone in some time will be dropped into the Pit. Feel free to retrieve stories from the Pit and put them back here on the Main Page if you get inspired and add to one.

==Creating a Story==
If you have an idea for a story, you might like to try [[Idea Pitches|pitching your idea to other users]] and seeing how interested people might be in playing your story, what you could do to make playing your story fun, and who might be interested in collaborating with you to write it. Once you have done that, you can create it by entering your desired name for the Story into the search box and clicking '''Go'''. If the name has not already been taken, click this exact title to start the story. There are three general types of story. The first is the branching-plot story (an example of this is the Choose Your Own Adventure series of gamebooks), which require the reader to make choices but are otherwise like a regular novel. The second type is the role-playing game adventure, which combines the branching-plot novel with simple role-playing rules such as attack points and monster battles. The third type is the trivia quiz, where the player must answer questions as if they were on a game show.

The next to the last line here is the ''status indicator''. The status indicator shown here is the ''basic'' status indicator. Different stories use different status indicators, and some use none at all. Look at the edit screen for the page you're starting from and copy that status indicator to the new page you're adding. Modify as necessary.

Every page should have the category at the bottom. This keeps track of all the pages in the story. You can copy the category line from the previous page to the one you're working on. The category, obviously, is ''never'' 'name of story you're working on'. You type in the actual name of the story.

People have a tendency to create branches where the character dies. To prevent the story from being just a tree with all dead ends:
*For each page where you kill the player's character, you must create at least 2 pages (with content) where s/he can go on.
*Please stick to the theme and setting of the story, and discuss ideas for major changes on the discussion pages. Although creativity is encouraged, radical plot changes and inconsistencies will ruin the flow.
*If something is off topic, remove it.
*Try to capitalize and spell your words correctly.
*'''ADD OPTIONS AND NOT JUST TEXT!''' Complete pages include options so the story can continue (unless the page is an ending). Incomplete pages will be edited or deleted.

==To Do List==
*Go through and fix or remove status indicators from pages.

*Correct capitalization and spelling mistakes.

You reach for your pistol and aim it at Captain Whitlock.

“Are you going to shoot me Miss Beech?” he asks, mocking you.

“I will if you don’t let me go!”

“Well, I’m not about to let you go,” he says.

You fire your pistol, unfortunately, you are a terrible shot and you accidentally shoot one of Captain Whitlock’s men in the leg! Roaring with pain, the pirate attacks you and knocks you out.

Later, you wake up locked in your father’s study aboard The Rising Sun. You look out the porthole and can only see ocean. You are being held on the ship!

“SOMEBODY HELP ME!” You scream as you turn and start to run from Captain Whitlock. You are so intent on fleeing that you run right into the dashing Captain Christopher Highmore of the Royal Navy! “He’s trying the kidnap me!” you cry.

Captain Highmore pulls out his pistol. Captain Whitlock, seeing that a member of the Royal Navy is after him turns and starts to run. Captain Highmore begins to chase him and his men, but upon seeing that he cannot take the infamous pirate alive, he stops, takes aim, and fires. Captain Whitlock falls to the ground, dead.

“Oh Captain Highmore, you’ve saved me!” you exclaim as he returns to you.

“Now I just need to get you home safe before anything else happens to you,” Captain Highmore says as he escorts you home.

And thus, your adventure ended, and you no longer wanted any dealings with pirates! As for dashing Captains in the Royal Navy… well, that’s a different story.

You quickly run into your father’s study at the aft of the boat and lock the door. You hear someone say to search below and shoot anyone they find. Terrified, you try to think of what to do to get out of this mess. Before you can find a decent hiding spot or come up with an escape plan, someone rattles the door handle. But locked doors aren’t a problem for pirates! He kicks the door in and sees you standing in the middle of the room. The pirate takes out his pistol, but suddenly, another pirate stops him.

“The Captain will want to see this one,” he says, dragging you onto the deck as The Rising Sun sails out of the harbor. Once on deck, you see that the Pirate Captain who has taken over your father’s ship is none other than the infamous James Whitlock!

“It would be best for you to go straight home Miss Beech,” he says as you wait for the carriage. “The Pirate Captain James Whitlock was spotted in town today.”

“Pirates! How exciting,” you say.

“We don’t know why he’s in town, but usually pirates only come to the city when they have a score to settle. But fear not, the Royal Navy will catch him.” Captain Highmore says as he hands you into your carriage.

Once you’re inside, you realize that it’s not your carriage at all! It starts to roll down the street, and in the darkness inside the carriage, you can just make out a figure holding a gun at you!

“Who are you? Where are you taking me?”

“That’s none of your concern. We’re just taking what’s ours,” the man answers.

“But why are you taking me?”

“Because your father owes Captain Whitlock.”

You’re being kidnapped by pirates!

Captain Highmore comes over and greets you. Without wasting any time, you ask if it’s true that the Pirate Captain James Whitlock is really in the city.

“He is indeed Miss Beech,” Captain Highmore tells you. “But don’t tell anyone, we don’t want to cause a panic.”

“And is he really after one of the merchants?” you ask him.

“We’re not really sure why he is in the city, but there is no need for you to worry. The Royal Navy will catch him,” Captain Highmore says. “Would like me to escort you out to your carriage?”
