General:

You are a medieval princess raised behind the walls of the castle you call home. You have always known that one day, you would have to leave behind everything you know to become the bride of a powerful noble or foreign prince of your father's choice. But when the day finally came, you were still far from prepared. With your heart trembling in your chest, you prepare yourself for departure in the carriage waiting outside to take you to your unknown spouse. You walk over to the giant mirror in your room. Staring back at you is:
Grab the rifle and shoot them?

General:

You suddenly elbow the soldier behind you in the gut followed by a knee to the face as he doubles over in pain from the blow before. You dive towards the unescorted rifle. You hear shouting in German, but your hands are quick to seize the moment. As you get your hands on the rifle you roll over to your back and looking back at your persecutors. A shot rings out and a bullet 'pings' off the vehicle's thick armor just inches away from your head. In the same movement, you pull the bolt and return it to the loaded position in an instant. Firing as fast and as accurately as you can, as though your life depends on it, you shoot at the soldiers as you pan from right to left.

The first soldier is only about 15 feet away at this point and you put a well placed shot in his center mass. He drops to his left knee, just as his recently drawn pistol makes a solid thud on the ground before him, then falls flat on his left side, blood has started to pour from the corner of this mouth.

You turn to the next and in expert fashion, you fire shot after shot, handling the weapon as though it had ben your toy since birth. Five German soldiers have fallen and you think it's over.

A soldier comes from behind the car and reaches for his pistol. Your instincts take over and the adrenaline still flows in you. You turn and shoot him in the knee, which makes him drop his weapon and fall to one side, shrieking in pain.

You rise to your feet and kick away the pistol now lying before your wounded adversary. Security being your priority, you check to make sure that the other soldiers are properly relieved of the task of breathing. From the ground at the back of the armored car, the wounded soldier snarls what are undoubtedly obscenities in German. You walk to him and kick him on the chest, making him flat against the ground. you then point the rifle towards him.

*[[Kill him in cold blood]]
*[[Spare his life]]
*[[Tell him to tell his Nazis to never to come to Russia]]
You get up and follow their commands?

General:

You slowly get up, grunting from the pain in your ribs where the soldier had kicked you. You slowly make your way out of the house. Outside is an awaiting armored car, the kind of vehicle the Nazis carry their prisoners of war to their camps. You clench your teeth, knowing the nastiness of your situation.

While you are pushed towards the car's rear door, you see that one of the soldiers has recklessly left his K98k rifle against the dark colored vehicle. They clearly didn't expect their prisoners to have much fight left or resist very much. However, it gives you an opportunity.

You kick the closest soldier, his response is obvious as you see the whole of his face as he grits his teeth and the jaw muscle flexes and protrudes from his face. He pulls his rifle to his face in a firing position and pulls the trigger. The last thing you see is the muzzle flash.
You are dead.

You wake up to a bomb hitting the field of corn just a mile from you. It shakes everything in the explosion. You look around, confused, but before you can move, ten Nazi soldiers burst into your tiny room, their boots on the wooden floor thumping as they hurriedly rush up where you are laying. The grey-clad soldiers point their weapons at you shouting,
"Aufstehen, Kamerad!" They seem angry, then one of them kicks you out of the bed. Your still waking body hits the hard wood floor with a thud. You know enough German to know that the command is to get up.
Go to your first mission

General:

You are standing outside your apartment building in a suit like the assassins on television wear. Now, with your new job, even this familiar spot seems hostile now. You get the feeling that there are people spying on you, watching you, ready to call up the police and turn you in at any moment. You tell yourself it’s all just in your head, but the thoughts keep coming back. Nervously checking your watch, you begin to curse Harvey under your breath, telling him to hurry up. A few minutes later, Harvey rolls up to the building in his car. He reaches over and swings the door open for you. “Jump in, bud,” he says.

You slide into the awaiting seat. Harvey starts laughing to himself. “Nice suit,” he snickers. “You trying to impress a girl or something?”

Ignoring his statement, you ask, “You have my equipment, right?”

Harvey tosses you a black bag. “Yeah, everything’s there. A silenced Glock and some ammunition, a combat knife, a stiletto, a lock pick set, piano wire, binoculars, a bottle of ether and a vial of cyanide, some syringes, ya know, for the cyanide, and washcloth for the ether, um…is that it?

You rummage through the bag each item that he mentioned was in there, each one in an individual black pouch. “No, I think you listed everything,” you say.

“Good,” replies Harvey. “Now, each weapon should be used at different times according to the situation. If you’re up close to the enemy, use the piano wire or a knife if you must. If you are at a distance, use the Glock. You shouldn’t use the gun unless you need to pick off the target at a distance. Even with a silencer, the gun will still make noise and you don’t want to alert anyone. They’re also messy. I mean, if you need to use it, that’s fine. Just be careful.

“Now, there are three things to remember about killing: The first is to keep a low profile. Just blend in with the surroundings. Don’t make a lot of noise or act suspicious, and don’t be caught in a place you shouldn’t be. Also, always be on the offensive. There's nothing more dangerous than trying to fend off someone. That’s how you get killed. And finally, don’t leave any traces. You don’t want to let some blood splatter tip off a guard in the area or let some discarded stuff give away your identity. And don’t leave any witnesses. Ya got all that?”

“I think so. It’s a lot to remember.”

“You’ll do fine. It’s not so hard.” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small flesh-colored object. Handing it to you, he says, “Put this in your ear. I’ll talk to you through it and give you advice.”

“You aren’t going in with me?”

“Nothing’s better than doing it on your own.” He throws a folder into your lap. “Here, study this. Look at his picture, read the profile. Information is important. It’ll give you an edge.
Why not?

General:

“Why not?” you say.

“Excellent,” says Harvey cheerfully.

“Isn’t the job dangerous? I’m not going to get killed, am I?” you ask.

“Not if you do it right,” he replies. “Come on, I’ll introduce you to my boss.”

He swings the door open, revealing a small room. The room is significantly brighter than the hallway and the floor is dry. There are a few pieces of furniture in the room: a large card table in the middle, some collapsible chairs surrounding it, and a couple floor lamps in the corners. A man is sitting in a chair across the table. He is wearing an expensive suit with a blood red tie. A bald spot on his forehead is creeping up his skull, driving away his well groomed black hair. He has a deep scar on his neck, just below his right ear. He is reading a paper as you and Harvey walk into the room. He looks up at you with his icy blue eyes, stares at you for a moment, and then says to Harvey, “Is this the recruit I asked you to bring?”

“Yeah.” Harvey replies.

“The boss looks over to you and says, “Do you have combat experience?”

“I was a soldier,” you reply. An expression flickers across the bosses face, just long enough for you to see it. “I served in Afghanistan,” you add.

The boss grunts, “That’s a good answer.”

“He’ll be a great assassin,” Harvey says.

“I hope so,” grumbles the boss. He turns to you. “Being an assassin ain’t like being a soldier, kid. It ain’t all ‘bang bang drop ‘em dead’ kind of shit. You don’t have any buddies out there. If you get caught no one’s going to bail you out. You’ve got to kill people silently, without anybody even noticing that they are dead. You’ve got to make clean kills. It’s a whole different frame of mind.” His gaze drops down to the page he is holding. “We’ll set up something of a training mission for you.” He focuses his gaze on you again. “I’ve got a client lined up here. It’s a real simple job: sneak into the target’s home, kill him, get out. No strings to get caught up on.” He looks over Harvey and hands him the page “Agent Indigo, you’ll be guiding the tenderfoot through this one.”

Harvey nods and says, “I’d love to, sir.”

“Tenderfoot,” the boss continues. “If you carry out this assignment well, we’ll sign you onto our agency. Do this mission poorly…” the boss sighs and rubs the scar on his neck. “This is a high risk, high reward business. Mess up and your life will be on the line.”

The boss rises from his seat and says, “We’ve been here long enough. It’s dangerous for us all to be in one place for too long” He firmly shakes your hand and says, “It’s a pleasure meeting you.”

“You too,” you reply and drift off, searching for a name to call your new employer.

Seeing your difficulties, he responds “Call me Fisher.”

“Oh, and my name is…”

“No, I don’t want to hear it. It’s best if we keep anonymous. To protect each other. Fisher’s not my real name. It’s just a codename.” He starts to shoo you and Harvey out the door. "Matthew 4:19," he adds with a slight smile. “Now, please go. We’ve been here too long.”

Harvey and you leave the room and Harvey locks the door behind him and returns the key to the lightbulb he found got it from. Looking at the paper, he says, “I’ll pick you up at about nine in the morning, okay?”

“Yeah, that sounds fine,” you respond.

The two of you walk down the narrow corridor. “I’ll pick up some equipment for you,” Harvey continues. “Some guns, knives, a lock picking set. You know, typical stuff. I’ll give them to you when we meet up tomorrow. Sound good?”

“Yeah, that’s fine,” you respond.

“And I shouldn’t need to tell you this, but don’t tell anyone what you
are doing or where you are going. Just make some shit up.

“Yeah,” you reply.

You and Harvey return to the car and head home.
Why not?

General:

“Hey, why the hell not?” you say. “I don’t have anything better to do today.”

Harvey jumps up from the couch. “Great,” he says. He trots over to the door saying, “I’ve got my car parked outside this building. Come on.”

You get up from the couch and follow him to his car.
----
The car rolls along a narrow, dirty road in Boston. To the right of the road is a wall of dilapidated buildings. Some of them appear to still be in use by squatters looking for free housing, others by criminal syndicates, but most are completely empty and falling dangerously into disrepair. Their dirty brick walls are crumbling and large holes are torn in the roofs. You wonder why Harvey is bringing you to this run down and dangerous part of town. What business could he possibly have here?

Harvey turns toward a shabby-looking warehouse at the end of the street and into the narrow opening where a big bay door used to be. You both get out and Harvey leads you out of the building towards the side of the warehouse. You follow him, looking all around you nervously. It is deadly quiet, with the only sound being the familiar white noise of the bay. You feel uneasy about the place. Harvey approaches a bunch of drums crowded around the side of the warehouse. He rolls one drum away and pulls up a flattened cardboard box lying on the ground, revealing a hatch. He looks over his shoulder before opening it and steps to the side. “You first,” Harvey wispers to you, motioning to stairs. You see a row of dark stairs leading into a dimly lit corridor. You step down, though with reservation, not saying a word. Slowly, you make your way down the stairs and into the wet concrete corridor. Harvey follows you, closing the hatch behind him. “Go on,” he says to you. “It’s the door at the very end of the corridor.”

You walk down the stretch of the corridor with Harvey following. Water splashes underneath your feet. You can hear the echoes of mice resonating down the corridor. There are plenty of dark shadows along this stretch of concrete. You feel even more uneasy in this place than outside. But Harvey is here, and if he is okay in this place, it must be safe. After trudging down the corridor for what felt like a half hour, you are greeted by a large metal door with peeling green paint. Harvey reaches up and twists off a burnt out light bulb above the door. He shakes the bulb and a key falls out into his hand. He turns to you and says, “Listen, bud. I’m not really a flight attendant.”

“What?” you exclaim. “What the hell do you do, then?”

“I’m a contract assassin,” he says.

“A hitman?”

“It’s a good job, man. I get to travel a lot. There are always people who need my service. And the pay is great.” He pauses for a moment. “Well, what do you say? You interested?”
