Go with Marla.
From Create Your Own Story
You follow Marla through the alleyway, into a metal door, and into the back end of the building. Just inside, Marla puts a finger to her lips to quiet you, and turns to head up a set of stairs.
You follow her silently, up two flights of stairs, before you come to another metal door. Marla pulls a set of keys from her pocket, unlocks the doors and opens it, then nods you in.
You step inside, and she shuts up the door and locks it tight. For a moment, you stand in the dark, until Marla strikes a match and lights a small hurricane lamp, and the room glows in dim light. It's sparse, with just a single mattress on the floor, covered by blankets and two pillows, and a two small tables. The rest of the room is covered by various sizes of cardboard boxes. Marla offers you the only chair in the room, a small stool.
"This was an old storage room, but it's pretty secure. The steel door ins't going to be easy to break down, and I've got plenty of food, water, and light." Marla pulls a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. "What's your story?"
You step out of the shadows slowly, flicking on your flashlight and shining it up onto your face as you move. You take a deep breath and hold it, watching her in the hopes she doesn't rush and attack.
The woman stares for a moment, leaning in a bit to look at you, before she lays the bat back on her shoulder and puts her other hand on her hip. "Who are you? And what are you doing back here?"
You give her a brief explanation of who you are and what's occurred that lead you to this alley. You make it short and sweet, and then ask her the same questions.
"I'm Marla. I live in an apartment close by, but the place was overrun with these diseased freaks, and I booked it out of there. Was coming to check on a friend, and he and his buddy here attacked me. Said they wanted to rape and eat me." She stares down at the two bodies. "I fixed both of them."
"So what now?" You ask.
"Now I'm going to find some food and water. A place to lay low for a little bit while we figure out what's going on."
"We?"
"You don't look like you have anything better to do," she says, pointing to a building behind her. "And I know a safe spot right over there."
