Your invertebrates develop some basic muscularity. They continue to hunt and reproduce, no longer threatened by simple microorganisms, but now targeted by small fish. You lose several of your number to such predators.
The pool is no longer the vast ocean that it seemed to your species two years ago, but instead a finite and easily navigable area. To one side of it, there is a small stream leading away from the pool.
