The bridge is made from two stout ropes, with thinner strings hanging from them and boards tied to the strings. You test the ropes and notice that the left one feels weak. That doesn't mean the bridge is necessarily a trap, although it might be. But it does mean that the bridge may collapse when you try to cross it.
