Dressed like this, it definitely feels strange the way nobody looks at you twice. This job better be worth your trouble!
You hop off the street car a block from the restaurant and immediately know you're in the bad part of town. Solitary figures walk beneath oppressive brownstone buildings. The few open places lining the nearly abandoned streets glow sickly with sulfurous light. The smell of trash and urine is mixed up with a wetter odor of rot.
The stench of rot gets stronger the closer to the water you walk. When you reach the small cobbled space a clammy fog lingers in the alleyways and storm drains. On the far side of the space, you see the garish red lights that spell ”Fuk Me Hod”. To your left, you see only roiling fog down a side street. To your right, weak light flickers from a ratty bar. The square itself is cluttered with trash dumpsters and the husk of an abandoned Chevy.
Okay, so this is it. Gosh, you need a drink!
- Check out the foggy side street to your left to see if you can pinpoint the source of that rotten stench
- Gather some liquid courage at the bar to your right, and perhaps a useful rumor too
- Walk directly across the square to reach the Chinese restaurant
