The parking lot, large as it is, is full to the brim. Luckily, Julianne manages to find a spot close to the main entrance of the mall. You disembark the car quietly and wait for your mother to get some bags from the trunk. "We need groceries, and I want to look for a - for some clothes."
"Uh huh," you say, looking away.
"We split up. You get the groceries; here is a list. See that you get everything." Looks like she doesn't want to be near you, but maybe you could use the opportunity to make for what you did?
