“So was I,” you admit. “But isn’t that enough?”

“Probably not,” Claire says. She glances at Lin and says, “I had this wager about your performance, you see. I actually had quite high expectations of you.” She sighs. “A little too high it seems.”

“What was the bet?” you ask.

Lin looks embarrassed at your question and Claire tersely says to you, “We owe someone a few sexual favors now.”

“Maybe it won’t be so bad,” you say. “At least you have me.”

Claire wiggles out of your reach. “Maybe later,” she says. “I don’t feel in the mood right now.” She takes Lin’s hand and heads towards the door. “I had such high hopes for you. What a disappointment.” They open the door and disappear into the night.
