Sighing, you slowly get on your feet, taking a deep breath once you stand. You try to look around into the darkness but you are hardly able to decipher anything. Your eyes slowly adjust to the night and finally you think you are able to see nothing but forest surrounding the lake. Looking at the lake, you realize it is hardly deserving of such a name and now it looks more like a large pond than anything, it is mostly surrounded by rocks or trees but you had gone ashore on the single sand dune.

You look around again and see nothing, suddenly something of interest catches your eye, your rifle! You see it laying on the ground by a large rock, half of it submerged in the water. You must have thrown it when you thrashed about in the water. Slowly walking over, you grab it and sling it on your shoulder, once again searching the area for something of interest a final time.

You almost leave when you search the sky one more time, squinting, you see a single parachute land very close to you, less than a mile to your east, in the large forest between you and the town. There are probably many more there too, though by the sound of rifle and AA fire, the Germans will be in there waiting for them.

You look around, taking a step towards the tree line to the east and then back to the west, you think.
