History

Origination

The title was introduced during the GBYWN Promo Challenge in 2008, where Bridgeview Wrestling Association's Shooter proclaimed himself the first champion, as the title was created by him and assigned to the Great Lakes Territory to be defended in that geographical area BWA is located.

Factually, in 2007, Cassius Chaos was the first to pitch the concept of community championships designed to represent GBYWN, which was the original GBYWN Championship turned in the the GBYWN West Coast Championship in 2009 while a title confusion existed with the GBYWN World and the GBYWN Title. The GBYWN World Heavyweight Title, however, remained the top tier community title.

Shooter from BWA defended the championship at BWA 4th Anniversary: Global Domination and lost to EXWF's Xcal, whereas, the belt went over to his correspondent promotion. Xcal then lost the belt a week later to JWA/2KW's FX. FX then took the title and defended it all over the United States, from New York to Nevada.

On October 27th, 2009, at ICW's Midwest Extravaganza, Shooter defeated FX and ICW's The Pen Name to win the title for the second time.
