National Backyard Wrestling Alliance (NBYWA) is a small backyard wrestling community founded by Skull Jr. on January 22, 2009. Despite having the term "national", NBYWA has not yet assembled a national gathering (it has federations only in two of the five regions of the United States, and only one country that makes up the United Kingdom).

-
The history of NBYWA can be considered to have started in July 2007, when Skull Jr.'s BYW federation Total Hardcore Wrestling (THW) went to the internet with it's own website. Without having a camera to take video of the events, THW wasn't taken too seriously (though there is known pictures of events out that are being searched for). This, and the fact that four of it's seven wrestlers wanted to retire, were huge factors in THW's closing on July 12, 2008. After talking to Jake Adams of WZW about a possible match, Skull Jr. advertised it on the GBYWN forums, causing a short verbal feud with popular wrestlers, claiming that he wasn't legitimate enough to wrestle Adams by not showcasing his own matches. After the feud ended, Skull Jr. had an abysmal match with RPK of HCW on November 29, 2008, which he was criticized more for. A good match versus RPK and AC occurred on January 10, 2009, which was completely ignored. (more)

The Featured Backyard Wrestler of the Month of April is Tek
+
{| width="100%" style="background: transparent;"
-
Tek is an American backyard wrestler who competes in 2KW and Elite Wrestling Association. He began wrestling around 2001 in a small federation known as UCW. However, he is best viewed for his days in upscale backyard wrestling federation United Wrestling Alliance (UWA). Tek is observed as one of the best lightweight wrestlers in the practice, wrestling in high profile bouts with any size competitors, even having pursued pro championship belts in pro organizations. His additional claim to fame is his innovative catchphrase, "who wants to go swimming", a preceding to his patented Cannonball signature move. Tek's overall backyard championship accomplishments include being a UWA Cruiserweight Champion, 2 time UWA Tag Team Champion and EWA Elite Tournament 2009 winner. Also in 2009, Tek was the first inducted into the GBYWN Hall of Fame.

As a result, Randa defeated Roberts to gain reigns of the championship. However, on the day 2, Murph won a GBYWN Money in the Bank match to earn a shot at the title as a second contender due to the "GBYWN Board of Directors" having selected J2 Step as the first contender. Later in the event, Randa was forced to defend the title against J2 Step as an opportunistic Murph cashed in on his title shot and went on to win the title during a Triple Threat match between all three opponents.

This month, Focalin, a top backyard performer and mastermind of The Awakening group, who had become the GBYWN Wrestler of 2010, announced what was unfortunate news to the backyard wrestling world. With memory problems erupting at the cause of many concussions sustained, Focalin was forced to put a finality to his backyard tenure indefinitely. The call was made after his condition progressively deteriorated, and after failing a screening and physical test with a physician, who informed him of severe repercussions if he were to attain further concussions, Focalin elected to draw an end to his days in backyard wrestling. He will proceed to undergo physical therapy and make a recovery and likely still attend backyard wrestling supershows as a spectator.

 • NEW GBYWN World Heavyweight Champion Crowned

One of the biggest northeastern supershows for backyard wrestling is WZW Domination and during the 9th annual festivities in Cooperstown, New York on August 13 and 14, a showdown which made history and where the GBYWN World Heavyweight Championship was amidst some turn of events, Robby Roberts, who reigned champion for well over a year, defended the title on day 1 of the show against a surprise opponent which was revealed to be none other than former 2-time champion Joe Randa.

 • Focalin Forced to Hang it Up
