Origination

In June 2007, the concept of a championship was first passed around by Cassias Chaos to GBYWN Owner Cam which was intended to represent the Global Backyard Wrestling News community that Cam agreed upon and extended the privilege for Chaos to become the inaugural champion. Chaos eventually proclaimed himself on YouTube as the GBYWN World Heavyweight Champion (not to be confused with the GBYWN World Heavyweight Championship) while the title was labeled the GBYWN Championship, and carried it around defending it in a match against Sal System (Kenneth Reigns).

After a year and a half, Chaos dropped the belt in BWB to Low Down in a Triple Threat match, shortly after departing from the GBYWN for personal reasons. The title went inactive for half a year with dead interest to remain with the championship idea. The title was then, in turn, given to "The Cheese Kid" Steven Alvarez in June 2008. Moreover, the title was later changed to the GBYWN West Coast Championship after title confusions with the GBYWN World Heavyweight Championship.
