Monthly Feature Article: January 2010

The Global Backyard Wrestling News awards are the awards which have been presented within the community of Global Backyard Wrestling News (GBYWN), most notiably the GBYWN Year End Awards and was created in 2006 since the iteration of the community by GBYWN owner Cam.

Originally, only one award alone was rewarded to a single federation until 2007 when the amount of awards given were increased. They were also first voted for in the forum community until a decision was made to have them exclusive to special personnel within to vote on and come to the final selection of the owner of the community.

Arguably and controversially not exactly accurate due to the high volume and consideration of nominations, GBYWN strives to select the utmost correct winners for their efforts. To date, there have been 4 End of Year awards that have taken place (more)

Featured Backyard Wrestler: January 2010

The Featured Backyard Wrestler of the Month of January is Twist. Twist is an American backyard wrestler from the New York backyard wrestling federation Unbelievable Youth Wrestling (UYW). He began wrestling at the age of 13, young alike his comrades in the home and internet-based organization. His name is also a reference to his high risk style of athletics. Twist has worked on honing his ability over the years and also receives professional counsel by close friend and professional wrestler Danny Danger. His accomplishments in backyard wrestling include being 1-time CW Champion and 1-time UYW Champion. Twist's aspirations are to one day become a professional wrestler.

The Featured Backyard Federation of the Month of November is Bridgeview Wrestling Association (BWA).Bridgeview Wrestling Association (BWA) is a backyard wrestling federation based in Illinois that formed in 2005, founded by John Steele (Tornado) and Joe Shue (Blaze). BWA is also a member of Battle Born Wrestling and Global Backyard Wrestling News. BWA started out as a basement wrestling league with no name in about 2003. It was founded my John “Tornado” Steele and Joe “Blaze” Shue and was held in Shue’s basement. Gradually, more people began to join, such as Marc “Scorpion” Denson, Mike “Inferno” Neri and others. They eventually moved all Steele’s yard in the summer of 2005 and began to wrestle on his trampoline.
